| Historically, Belfast's main industries have been linen, rope making, tobacco and shipbuilding. Harland and Wolff, the city's largest shipbuilder built the ill-fated Titanic. Belfast played a key role in the Industrial Revolution and was a global industrial centre until late in the 20th century. Magnificent architecture from building during this period can be found all over the city centre.
Amongst the attractions you should visit are Ulster Museum, Queens University, Botanic Gardens, the Albert Memorial Clock Tower, Cathedral Quarter, Ulster Folk & Transport Museum, the Titanic Shipyard, Belfast Castle and City Hall.

The area around City Hall from Donegall Place to Royal Avenue has a variety of high street stores including Castlecourt Shopping Centre. Castlecourt and Victoria Square in the city centre and Forestside and Westwood Shopping Centres in the outlying district, provide shoppers with a range shops from popular chain stores to interesting independent retailers. The impressive glass dome of Victoria Square is a prominent feature of the city's skyline and provides access to over 70 stores including House of Fraser and many exclusive designer brands.

Restaurants include Indian, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Thai and of course traditional Irish.
